Felix Acevedo, a member of the National Arts Centre Orchestra since 1981, was born in the Dominican Republic. As a young boy his parents moved to New York where he began his musical involvement taking lessons in piano and trumpet before taking up the French horn. Felix Acevedo received his formal training as a scholarship student at the Juilliard School of Music.

In 1968, Mr. Acevedo emigrated to Canada and, after further studies at McGill University, he became active as a freelance orchestral musician. He has worked with the Montreal Symphony, the McGill Chamber Orchestra, the Hamilton Philharmonic and with the CBC on radio and television.

Before joining the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Mr. Acevedo was principal horn of the Canadian Chamber Ensemble and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. He has been active as a private teacher and was instructor of French Horn at Wilfrid Laurier University. He became a Canadian citizen in 1975.
