Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra, featuring Music Director Pinchas Zukerman as conductor and violin soloist, headed to British Columbia for a 10-day concert and education tour from November 8 to 18, 2004.

The tour featured a work created by Canadian composer Alexina Louie and showcases the Orchestra and Pinchas Zukerman in masterpieces of the classical repertoire.

As always when the NAC Orchestra tours, education played as important a part as the concerts themselves. Over 80 educational events took place on tour. They included visits by smaller ensembles from the NAC Orchestra to remote communities in the north and southeast interior of BC to perform for First Nations children, to bring recorder programs to communities and schools, and to encourage, by example, young people involved in school and community music programs. More than 30 education partners assisted with these outreach activities.

Orchestra staff and musicians kept a record of their tour experiences. Check out their video and text journals and visit the tour photo gallery.
